If TK is a feeder to Elem School enrollment (preference), will the District also adjust the Elem lottery system so that TK is not the way into preferred Elem school -- especially if TK shows that it favors families that can attend 6 hours, and a non bused child. Or, does a SF UPK add additional support in non-District sites to support children in community based programs (including those not eligible for CSPP and attending community based program)

TK teachers need to mirror the student population - racially, native speakers and local residents if possible.

How will this help parents that work and need after hour care. Will they have this for there children if in this program.

I assume this means PFA will be terminated at some point then? What will compensation look like for FCCs that are offering TK

PFA is not going away; it's legislated by Prop C passed by voters in 2014.

If PFA is not going away what's going to be different from UPK?

So PFA is here to stay? Will that be affected by the fact that universal preK is 6 hours (when 3.5 hours are free or discounted?

Families will have choice, like they have currently (and since 2014), to enroll their child at an elementary school with a TK classroom.

Will the district provide transportation?

if talking about equity

We are reviewing the part-day funding and programmatic structure of PFA. This will require a community engagement process, including a full review of how our program design is aligned with TK curricula/standards.

TK in the Bayview are located at Dr. Charles Drew, Bret Heart, John McLaren (Sunnidale). El Dorado will join the group next year.

Yes they do but parents are saying that there is No after school program for there children.

In the Mission we currently have TK at Zaida T. Rodriguez, Junipero Serra Annex, and Leonard Flynn

How about cesar Chavez?

Mission Education Center will join next year.

Zaida T Rodriguez in on Bartlett between 25th and 26th street. One block from Cesar Chavez. Leonard Flynn is on Cesar Chavez at the corner of Harrison St.

Will there be opportunities to modify the program design if this doesn't work? Will that happen quickly? We can't afford to make mistakes that impact a generation of our youngest and most vulnerable.

Part of this process is to engage your comments/input that helps shape the program design, including how resources are allocated to ensure children's needs are met first.

What is the role of private child care centers and FCCs in Universal Preschool? Can they actually participate somehow and accept TK children by meeting the requirements?

The ratio for the fcc and center are different by licensing

This is about the younger children they need more human touch 1 to 12 is not for this age group.

1:12 is really challenging for 2.9-5they better pay well for the teachers

Contractually with our labor partners (UESF) the student ratio for TK and K is 22 students per classroom.

School day, school year, just like K-12. Now, it's TK-12.

What will be the acceptance process for the parents?

It's the same process that enrolls K-12, now TK-12. The Enrollment Placement Center at 555 Franklin, application (paper/on-line), and choice system. There are tie-breakers. Enrollment system is not changing for now at SFUSD.

Yes -- we are working with SFUSD to build upon our research, evaluation and how we identify children in real time instead of retrospective.
