In November 2020, Prop F passed which released the Prop C reserve allowing us to re-think CARES 2.0 into a possible Compensation Initiative. Then, in April 2021, Prop C legal case was settled, and we can truly have a compensation initiative. Yay!

I was sad when a few years back my site got cut off from the public nurses coming to my site to do vision/hearing since we serve some private pay. I understand. I was sad though since they yearly found kids who needed glasses (irregardless of SES) since the school environment was so much comfortable and safer for kids rather than the pediatrician. This just came to mind when you were asking about who should get the services or not and why

Yesterday I was asked, “Teacher Brooke, why do we have to eat”? Another 4yr old answered, “if we don’t eat we will become a skeleton and die!” ;) lol

Are other Directors running into families who are being told there are year long waitlists to be able to receive even an assessment? Let alone services… I hope now that SFUSD is open again, they can catch up with all the families who are requesting assessments…
